why do potato chips packets r filled with nitrogen gas????

When fats and oils are oxidised, they become rancid and their smell and taste change. Food items containg oil and fat are flushed with nitrogen to prevent rancidity of oil and fat as nitrogen is an inert gas and prevent the oxidation of oil and fats.

Flushing with nitrogen flushes out oxygen(thereby preventing oxidation) and protects the food from rancid

in-active nitogen is flushed in chips packet to prevent rancidcity.

so that they remain fresh

Nitrogen is an anto-oxidant. As the video on rancidity says, when oxygen reacts with fats and oils, it will smell bad. As chips contain oil, they may give off a pungent smell. So, the bags are filled with nitrogen to avoid this.

wat about non fried chips?

This is because, nitrogen is an inert gas and it prevents the oily food in direct contact with oxygen.

 coz of rancidity

The packet of the potato chips is filled with the nitrogen gas for preventing oxidation and hence to prevent rancidity.

As nitrogen gas is inert in nature so it does not itself react with the food items but prevent rancidity.

To prevent it from beind rancid or getting oxidised.

The potato chips are filled with nitrogen because to prevent rancidity and dont ,t allow oxygen to enter in packet

  • 1

Chips packets are filled with inert nitrogen gas because so that the oils and fats in chips do not turn rancid or bad or spoilt due to the presence of atmospheric gases.

they are filled with nitrogen gas so that the food does not get rancid.

when oils and fats are oxidised the smell and colour changes....... this process is known as rancidty.

microbes found where life cannot exists. it becomes hardy why?

to protect from rancidity.......

Nitrogen is less reactive gas and it does not allow any other gas to react in it so it cut oxygen and protect it from ranicidity
