Why do we need a constitution mechanism to establish secularism?

In a country such as India where diversity is the only constant, written law become very essential. These written guidelines set the path on which the aims or gaols of a nation can be achieved. In case of issues , we have a set book of norms to refer to too. It is because of these reasons constitution mechanism becomes important to establish secularism.
With the 42nd Amendment of the Constitution of India enacted in 1976,the Preamble to the Constitution asserted that India is a secular nation. India does not have an official state religion. The people of India have freedom of religion, and the state treats all individuals as equal citizens regardless of their religion.People enjoy equality in matters of law and justice.There is no religious discrimination.
