why do we prefer tungsten in electric filament bulbs?

Tungsten can sustain high temperatures and it has high melting point, combined with the fact that it also has high resistivity. These are the reasons why it is used for filament of electrical devices.

Tungsten is preferred for making filaments of electric bulbs because of its high melting point and high resistance. It does not melt at high temperature when the bulb is glowing because of the former.

tungsten is preferred for making filaments of electric bulbs because of it's high melting point i.e (3380" C) and it is a strong metal also. tungsten does not melt even at high temperature when the bulb is glowing because of the former, that's why it is preffered in making filaments of bulbs..

i hope it helps u....
