Why does Anees Jung relate the story of a man from Udipi?from English flamingo.

She relates the story with the man as when he was young even he wishes to get a pair of shoes and he use to go to the temple where his father was priest and pray for his wish. Later after 30 years his wish was fulfilled and so he went to the temple to pray that he must never loose them. The author wants to explain the fact that young boys like priest son wore shoes but the ragpickers in his neighbourhood remained shoeless.

The author wants to convey the fact that when we are devoid of some commodity only then we understand its importance. The story of the priest's son who did not had shoes and went to pray in the temple in which his father was the priest and the story of the present day priest's son who had this opportunity and throws his shies on the gate itself
