why does glucose get converted to glycogen / glycogen converted to glucose? Please answer fast.

Excess glucose is converted and stored in the form of glycogen in liver and muscles. Glycogen serves as the source for long term energy storage. This stored glycogen can again be converted into glucose for use as energy source throughout the body including brain.
