why does the father want the son to come back prodigal in the poem father to son

father loves his son a lot and is ready to forgive him. he wants him to return back as prodigal son in the bible who went away from the home, spent his all money and realized his mistake and asked his father for forgiveness and in return father also forgived him. father wants his son to return back in same manner because he want to live with him in whom he invested his whole life. he is suffering from pain of separation and wants to fill his son with love which will be born out of the pangs of pain and grief the father is suffering from.
