The poet said that a bear's 'hug' may confuse a novice because the bear posses a tendency of hugging the victim and leading to his death. A bear hugs his victim very tightly that the victim dies. At the same time, a novice who is not aware of this can misunderstand the gesture of the bear and fall prey to his acting of hugging. While the victim may be thinking that the bear is hugging and embracing him, he would be leading him to his death.
