1. Why does the skin of your finger shrink when you wash clothes for a long time?

Skin of our finger shrink when we wash clothes for a long time because of exosmosis. The outside solution of detergents acts as hypertonic solution for the cells of our fingers. So water from the cells of our fingers move out through osmosis due to concentration gradient. Thus, it result in shrinkage of our fingers during washing of  clothes for a long time.
