Why doesn't a duck get wet in water?

Dear student,
Please find below the answer:

Ducks don't get wet in water because:
  • They have smooth feathers which doesn't allow much water to stick to them and keep them afloat.
  • Also, ducks produce oil (in preen glands) that they collect by rubbing their beak against these glands. They coat this oil over their feathers with the help of their beaks. This oil prevents them from getting wet in water or else, we can say, make them waterproof.
Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
