why in a transistor is the forward bias voltage always smaller than the reverse bias voltage

IN a transistor, emitter is forward biased while collector is reverse biased. If the forward bias is made large, the majority charge carriers would move with high velocity from emitter to collector through the base. This would give rise to excessive heat causing damage to the transistor.
