why is classification necessary?

The scientific grouping or classification of organisms has some specific advantages:

  • It makes the study of living organisms convenient.
  • It helps in the specific identification of any given organism.
  • The study of a few representatives from each distinct group helps us to integrate the idea of life as a whole.
  • It reveals the relationships among various groups of organisms.
  • It provides information about plants and animals, which occur in specific geographical regions.
  • It indicates the evolutionary relationship by establishing the gradually increasing complexity of form and structure in different groups of organisms.

Classification of organismsis important because1. Identification of unknow species.2. Grouping of new organisms with existing ones.3. Assign names to organisms (Nomenclature).4. Provides a common reference for those already identified.5. It the universal language of communication

It is a little bit difficult to group the animals simply that is why classification is needed as it

gives the scientific name and make the study of living organisms a bit easier.

  • 2

Classification is necessary because:-

(i) it makes it easy for us to study different organisms in detail and in an organised manner

(ii) It makes it easy for us to understand the relationship, similarities or differences between different organisms

(iii) It indicates the revolutionary pathways along which the present-day organisms may have developed.

Hope this helps :)
