why is coal poor conductor of heat???

as some people burns coal at the time of winter for heat

Coal does not conduct heat as it is a bad conductor of heat. However, coal has a high calorific value, i.e. it produce large amount of energy in the form of heat when it is burned that is why people burn coal during winters to keep warm.
