Why is graphite smooth and slippery in nature?

graphite is made up layers of carbon ,that can slide over each other ,making graphite smooth soft and slippery to touch . the layers are known as hexa gonal layers , because the layers are in theshape of hexagon.

Carbon atoms in graphite are bound together with weak vander wall's force which can easily break. thus graphite is soft to touch................

The layers of atoms in graphite are loosely attached to the adjacent layer. This makes graphite soft and slippery.

because of its physical structure. It has a hexagonal arrangement of atoms.

sine it is held by weak forces it is slippery
