Why is lakshadweep known as a coral island?

they are called so because corals are found here only in india

lakshadweep islands are called coral islands as polyps, over the years when die forms layers of land. it is a natural and slow phenomena. thus, like this Lakshadweep is formed.

Lakshwadeep is known as the coral island becaause of the following reasons:

• The water there is suitable for the growth of polyps.
• The skeletons of these dead polyps pile up and form islands.

hi , i would like to suggest that only ployps's fossils dont form it bcoz it is formed by the deposition of dead corals and they are found in plenty than any other place in India as my sst sir suggested
