Why is the game of tennis is beyond saheb's reach? From chapter lost spring

Tennis is a sport which would require a person to buy proper and expensive gear to play it, which was not possible for Saheb to do. Thus, the game was out of his reach.

The game of tennis is not for saheb's bacause he don't belong to that class who play the game, he can't afford the dress and the equipments.
He and his family is unable to arrange two times meal, so playing tennis was only a dream for them.
