Why is the range of 4000A to 8000A called electromagnetic spectrum?

Dear Student,

Electromagnetic means- Electricity and magnetism.
We know light consists of both the electric field and magnetic field both are mutually perpendicular and perpendicular to the direction of propagation. White light consist of 7 different colors called VIBGYOR, they have different frequencies and wavelength.
So All colors have an electric and magnetic field associated with them.

The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of frequencies of electromagnetic radiations which include radio waves, microwaves, infrared rays, visible rays, ultraviolet rays, X-rays and gamma rays.  Its wavelength ranges from 10-3 to 10-12m or ranging wavelengths  from > 10Angstroms (for radio waves) to < 0.1 Angstroms (for Gamma rays).

Hope this information will clear your doubts about the topic.

Therefore they are called the electromagnetic spectrum.
