Linnaeus gave artificial system of classification. It was based on the basis of external morphological characters like habit, leaf types, vegetative structures etc. In artificial classification, only some characters are taken into consideration. It is based on convergence because the unrelated animals and plants are classified in the same groups on the basis of false kin relationships between living organism. This classification even separated closely related species. As classification is based of only one, or few, special characters, it is known as artificial system of classification.
