why magnet attracts iron particles?

Materials have the property of conduction because of the mobile electrons in them.The electronic configuration of a particular element is responsible for the magnetic properties of the electron.The credit goes to magnetic moment of the electrons.The unpaired electrons present in elements like iron , cobalt and nickle , impart the atom its magnetic field.This is the reason why certain material are better attracted towards magnet.The more the number of unpaired electrons , better is the magnetic field. The magnetic field of the unpaired electrons isn't cancelled out by other electrons.Every metal isn't attracted to a magnet as even though they may have mobile electrons, the mobile electrons form eddy current on being subjected to a magnet.
