why mrs packletide wants to kill the tiger and whats the moral behind this story

Dear student,

Mrs. Packletide wanted to shoot a tiger because her competitor Ms. Loona Bimberton had gone on an adventure and killed a tiger, thus she wanted to outshine her.
The moral of the story however, teaches us that we should not be greedy and should not try to follow other people blindly as the results may be hazardous. Though, the tiger had been dead, Mrs. Packletide had not shot it, this was known by Ms. Mebbin and she blackmailed her later to make her shell out a huge amount of money. Thus, Mrs. Packletide was more at loss than at par with Ms. Bimberton.
