Why should every accused be held innocent until proved otherwise what will happen if this is not so ?

Every accused must be be held innocent until proved guilty because of the following reasons:

a. To protect the rights of an Individual.

b. To give a fair trial and opportunity to a person to defend himself.

c. It is in tune with principle of rule of law.

d. Judgement has to be based on the evidence collected.

In case, a fair trial is not given to a person it would amount to a violation of Fundamental right to life under Article 21 of the constitution and certainly would be against the principle of justice that upholds fairness and equality.
