Why should we conserve biodiversity ? How can we do it ?

Biodiversity is of a lot of value and serves several important functions. Some significant reasons why it should be conserved are:
Maintaining balance of nature: Biodiversity is important to maintain balance between various components in the nevironment and hence should be conserved
Commercial value: Range of biodiversity provides several useful products , hence it should be conserved
Educational value: all forms of biodiversity provide useful inputs in study of life and living organisms, hence it should be conserved
Ethical values: All living forms have equal right of sustenance , hence it should be conserved.
There are various methods by which we can conserve bio-diversity.
1.Establishment of national parks, wildlife sanctuaries and biosphere reserves to protect plants and animals from human interference.
2.Dispose hazardous materials safely. Chemicals that enter the sewer system can contaminate freshwater and ocean ecosystem and damage various forms of life
3. Encourage and support local government plans that protect habitat and decrease threats to bio-diversity.
4.Protecting habitats of endangered plants and animals.
5.Reduce the use of pesticides which allows more species to survive in agricultural areas thus conserving bio-diversity.
