Why SI unit of energy and work are same

Dear student,

For Kinetic energy=$\frac{1}{2}$m$v^2$
and for work =Force x displacement=F.s
Both having similar dimensional formula =$\left[M{L}^2{T}^{-2}\right]$

That is why si unit of work and energy is the same (i.e. Joule J).
