Why the number of panchs always has an odd number??????Explain properly & clearly.....

The term panchayat means a body of five people since the word panch means five . This does not mean that there are always five panchs there and the number may vary according to the rules.However the number is kept odd always because to ensure there is no tie in decision making of the panchayat in certain matters and to ensure majority decisions. If even number panchs will be there than there is a possibility of tie ,in a certain decision which can delay the process of decision making.
