Why was Dietrich Brandis invited and made the first inspector general of forest in india ?what were his suggestion and how were they implemented?

Dear Student,
The British colonial government invited Dietrich Brandis as the first Inspector General of Forests in India for looking after the proper management of forest resources in India. He suggested that the forest management plans should be made by the forest officials. He also implemented many schemes for the proper management of forest resources in India. Some of them are:
1. He set up the Indian Forest Service in the year 1864.
2. He enacted the Indian Forest Act of 1865.
3. He set up the Imperial Forest Research Institute in Dehradun in the year 1906 where scientific forestry was taught for the first time.
