Why was the mansion called Canterville Chase?

since it was made by the mr.canterville...........thus it was named after him ......

I think it's because this canterville ancestry existed there many years before this sir Simon and its something like a hierarchy orsomething'ssomething's 

The Canterville chase was called so because it had been the ancestral property of the Canterville family for centuries and hence the name.

that house is called the canterville chase because in that house sir simon had killed her wife inthat house and after that every one thinks that the ghost of that lady is troubling everyone who enters that house.

The mansion belongs to the canterville family and is chased by the ghost of sir simon de canterville who murdered his wife, eleanore de canterville and after which his guilty spirit still haunts and chases in the mansion. So the mansion is called the canterville chase.
