to store water for future purpose and also provide water for thirsty traveller

because it's there wish to build it

but the actual reason the build it for doing rainwater harvesting for saving water

1. The lake,pond,or the water body had dried.
2. There was very less water .
3. The place was very far from the water body.
4. There was a less rainfall.
5. So that they can do rainwater harvesting.
