Write a brief character sketch in about 125-150 words on 'Lord Canterville'.

  • the most humorous character in the story is undoubtedly the ghost himself , sir simon, who goes about his duties with talent.
  • he asumes a series of dramatic roles in his failed attempts to terrify the otises, making it easy to image him as a comical character in a stage play.
  • the ghost has the ability to change forms so he has many roles like sucides skeleton, berely moor, jonas the graveless...etc, all having succeded in horrifying previous castle residents over the centuries but none of them works with these americans
  • his antics do nothing to scare his house quests and the otises succed in failing him everytime. he falls victim by butter slides, falling buckets of water.
  • in a particular comical scene, he is frightened by the sight of a ghost rigid up by the mischievous twins

he ghost of the castle for centuries. He was Sir Simon de Canterville and died in 1584, his spirit still haunts the Chase. His aspect is very terrible: He is an old man, his eyes were as red burning coals, long grey hair fell over his shoulders in matted coils, his garments, which were of antique cut, were soiled and ragged, and from his wrists and ankles hung heavy manacles and rusty gyves.
