write a character sketch on john pescud,on the basis of the story bestseller.

word limit-150-200 words

John A Pescud in the story is man with a hypocritical nature. although he has very firm views and perspectives about various topis yet he acts contradictarily. He expressed his utter dislike for the love stories like 'The Lady and the Trevelyan', he says that these stories ,though bestsellers, are totaly imaginay and unrealistic as people generally marry in similar backgrounds. however as the story proceeds, we get to know that he himself acted as the protagonist of such stories i.e fell for a girl at first sight, followed her till her home. He even discovered that she belonged to a very prestigious family yet he did not give up the idea of marrying her and finally he ends up marrying her. this clearly indicates that he did not preached what he said!

John was not particularly a good looking man. He believed that a man should be decent and law abiding in his hometown. A travelling salesman for a plate glass company, he was an old acquaintance of the narrator. When the two hit the conversation the narrator got a chance to explore Johns view on love, romance and literature. Pescud widely disapproved of the best sellers as he believed them all to be unrealistic. He believed that in reality a man when hunts down his girl to settle down, he looks out for her in his station and not like from these novels where an American swell from Chicago who falls in love with a royal princess from Europe
