Sir,

Subject: Need to regularise traffic

I am a regular reader of your newspaper and wish to use the columns of your esteemed daily to bring to the notice of the public and the authorities the urgent need to regularise traffic.

The number of vehicles on the roads has increased manifold over the last decade. It has been found that even in middle class families, each member has his own vehicle. This has resulted in big traffic jams and high level of pollutants being released into the atmosphere. Metro cities like Delhi are facing an acute problem of traffic jams for hours. The police helps manage VIP movements, but it is often seen that ambulances carrying patients are not given right of way.  At times, a critical patient is not able to get medical help on time. Public awareness might help solve this problem. People need to opt for public transport or car pools to commute. They should choose to walk or cycle over short distances. Traffic policemen must work toward getting ambulances the right of way under all circumstances.

I hope that the public and concerned authorities will take appropriate steps to regularise traffic movement.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours faithfully,
ABC
