Write a note on Indus river.
- The Indus river rises in Tibet, near Lake Mansarover.
- Flowing west,it enters India in the Ladakh district of Jammu and Kashmir.
- It flows through Baltistan and Gilgit and emerges from the mountains at Attock.
- The Beas, the Chenab, the Jhelum, the Sutlej and the Ravi join it at Mithankot in Pakistan.Beyond this the Indus flows southwards entering the Arabian Sea, east of Karachi.
- It is about 2900 km long.
- Only a little over third of the Indus basin is in India.
