• Ecology is is the scientific study of the relations that living organisms have with respect to each other and their natural environment.

• Conservation biology is the scientific study of the nature and status of the Earth's biodiversity aiming at protecting species, their habitats, and ecosystems from excessive rates of extinction. It is an interdisciplinary subject drawing on sciences, economics, and the practice of natural resource management.

• Although we are a product of Nature and Mother Earth, God has given us the faculty to understand the various laws of nature.

• Nature is related to us in various ways. Air is a matter which we breathe, without which it is impossible to sustain on this planet.

• The universal source of energy is our planet. Flora and fauna are a must in co-existence for the mere survival of human beings.

• Biotic, meaning of or related to life, are living factors. Plants, animals, fungi, protist and bacteria are all biotic or living factors. Abiotic, on the other hand, are non-living factors that affect living organisms. Environmental factors such habitat (pond, lake, ocean, desert, mountain) or weather such as temperature, cloud cover, rain, snow, hurricanes, etc. are abiotic factors. 

• The impact of biotic and abiotic elements combine to create the ecosystem. Even if a single factor changes, perhaps by any natural calamity or by pollution, the whole system gets disturbed or altered. For example, humans can alter environments through farming or irrigating. While we usually cannot see what we are doing to various ecosytems, the impact is being felt all over. For example, acid rain in certain regions has resulted in the decline of fish population.

• A very important topic of discussion has been 'global warming' since quite some time now. It is an adverse effect on the nature, which exists because of the mishaps done by human beings and because of which human beings suffer.

• As climate changes, the probabilities of certain types of weather events are affected. Changes in the amount, intensity, frequency, and type of precipitation has been observed because of global warming.
