Write a short note on cell theory

In biology, cell theory is a scientific theory which describes the properties of cells. These cells are the basic unit of structure in all organisms and also the basic unit of reproduction. With continual improvements made to microscopes over time, magnification technology advanced enough to discover cells in the 17th century. This discovery is largely attributed to Robert Hooke, and began the scientific study of cells, also known as cell biology. Over a century later, many debates about cells began amongst scientists. Most of these debates involved the nature of cellular regeneration, and the idea of cells as a fundamental unit of life. Cell theory was eventually formulated in 1839. This is usually credited to Matthias Schleiden and Theodor Schwann. However, many other scientists like Rudolf Virchow contributed to the theory. Cell theory has become the foundation of biology and is the most widely accepted explanation of the function of cells.

The three tenets to the cell theory are as described below:

  1. All living organisms are composed of one or more cells. (However, this is considered a controversy because non-cellular life such as viruses are disputed as a life form.[1] See Non-cellular life.)
  2. The cell is the basic unit of structure and organization in organisms.
  3. Cells arise from pre-existing cells.

Cell theory was introduced by Schleiden and Schwann . They gave the points that all plants and animals are made up of cells .. and rudolf  Virchow modified the cell theory further by giving the point that all new cells arise from pre - existing cells

the cell theory ,that is all  the plants and animals are composed of cell and that the cell is a basic unit of life was presented by two biologist ,scleiden and schwann .the cell theory was further expanded by virchow by suggesting  that all cells arise from pre existing cell  .with the discovery of electron microscope in 1940, it was possible to observe and understand the complex structure of the cell and its various organelles.

The generally accepted parts of modern cell theory include: All known living things are made up of one or more cells. All living cells arise from pre-existing cells by division. The cell is the fundamental unit of structure and function in all living organisms

Cell theory is a way to describe the biology of living things. Cell theory says that the cell is the basic unit of life. Cells by themselves are alive, but they can also be part of a larger living thing. The smallest living organisms and the biggest ones are all made of cells. Very small organisms like bacteria and amoebas are only made of one cell each, so they are called unicellular organisms . Larger organisms are made of many cells, and they are called multicellular organisms "uni" means "one"
