Dear Student,

a.  Pastoralists were people who reared animals,  and moved from place to place in search of green pastures. Some of them moved to combine a range of activities – cultivation, trade and herding – to make their living. Continuous movement of nomadic tribes was considered useful for environment.

b. Pastoral nomadism  suited to many hilly and dry regions of the world. Pastoral movement allowed time for the natural restoration of vegetation growth. Pastoralists played a very important role as moving traders For example, The Kurumas and Kurubas reared sheep and goats and sold woven blankets.
