Write and describe 3 natural and 3 man made cause of global warming

Dear student,
Please find below the answer:

There is an increase in earth's temperature when the sun's radiations enter the Earth’s atmosphere but are not able to escape. This is called the greenhouse effect. Gases that cause the greenhouse effect are responsible for increasing the temperature of the Earth and thus contribute to the phenomenon called global warming.

Climate change is a natural cause of global warming. Climate changes when the amount of heat coming on the earth's surface changes or the amount of heat that radiates back from the earth's surface changes. For example, a warmer climate is either due to an increased amount of heat coming on the earth's surface and decreased amount of heat radiates back from the earth's surface. Some of the natural causes of climate change include changes in the concentration of greenhouse gases, change in intensity of the sun and volcanic eruptions.

Man-made causes of global warming include:

  • Increase in the greenhouse effect
  • Deforestation: Cutting of trees allows the release of stored carbon into the air as carbon dioxide. This is how it contributes to global warming.
  • Burning of fossil fuels: Combustion of different kinds of fuels yields different kinds of greenhouse gases which contribute to global warming. Burning of liquid hydrocarbon fuels leads to emission of a significant amount of CO2, while burning biofuels releases a lot of methane(CH4). Both these gases absorb infrared radiation from the sun and emit it back upon the earth. This causes a rise in temperatures on the Earth and hence causes global warming.

Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
