Through the column of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to
share my views on increasing anger leading to road rage and
violence in the country
We have all come across so many cases of brutal deaths due to a
minor argument between two people on a menial issue
Road rage not only destroys the two people involved in it but,
it destroys the entire family of the victim and the accused
It is high time that we pay heed to this serious issue and try
to avoid getting into unnecessary arguments or fights with people
on road
Before we can curb the problem, we would have to understand the
reasons behind it, which can be physical, psychological or
social
Physical reasons: lack of space to drive on the same roads
which used to run vacant a decade back This leads to frustration
level Increase in number of cars have led to rising inconvenience
on the roads No room to drive and decreasing speed limits triggers
anger
Psychological reasons: Children notice their parents getting
aggressive while driving This is engrained in their mentality Thus,
by the time they grow up, and become old enough to drive, it comes
naturally to scream and get angry on roads The stored information
turns to reactions to certain events
Various symptoms of road rage are driving in a hurry without
any specific reason, lane hopping, aggressively pushing through
jammed traffic, criticizing other commuters and being discourteous
and self-centred
Fighting over petty issues and endangering or ending a person's
life are not correct ethically, morally and socially People should
learn to be tolerant towards others and give respect to
everyone
It is only then that our nation would be able to progress and
everybody would be able to live in peace and harmony
