Features of the Mansabdari System:

1. It was introduced by Akbar.

2. It had a system of ranking for all appointments to determine salary and privileges.

3. The rankings were based on number of men and horses he person commanded.

4. Each appointee was required to get his men and horses reviewed.

5. Men were registered and horses branded so that the account was maintained.

6. The highest ranking person was with 7000 horses and horsemen. and could attend court of the emperor.

7. The lowest was with 20 and considered a sepoy or a servant.

Disadvantages of Mansabdari System:

1. With the passage of time the Mansabdars abandoned  the practice of maintaining the requisite number of soldiers and horses, but at the time of actual verification they showed the false numbers and thus deceived the Government. This caused not only financial loss but also made it difficult for the Government to get the adequate number of
soldiers.
2) Again it was the Mansabdars who paid salaries to their soldiers, so naturally the soldiers remained more loyal to their respective Mansabdars than to the Emperor. Such a tendency encouraged revolts to occur.
