Sir,

Subject: Environmental pollution at tourist spots

I am a regular reader of your national daily and wish to use the columns of this esteemed newspaper to highlight the problem of environmental pollution at tourist spots.

We do not value our heritage and this is evident in the way we pollute our monuments and tourist destinations. Plastic bags are seen strewn about, garbage dumps pollute the air. Factories are made right next to the monuments and the pollutants tarnish the buildings. Chemicals and pollutants are thrown into the rivers beside monuments and tourist sites. We litter the tourist spots without giving a second thought to the pristine beauty of some destinations. Loudspeakers blare music or speeches, disturbing the peace of these tourist spots. Strict action needs to be taken against offenders. The public should become aware of civic sense and its responsibility in showcasing the country's tourist sites in all their glory.

I hope the concerned authorities will take appropriate action at the earliest.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,
