Here are few among the many guidelines which would help you with understanding on how to write a message:

  • Write brief and concise sentences;
  • Add articles when necessary to avoid ambiguity;
  • Use present tense.
  • Capitalise the first word of the sentence, and use a period at the end of the sentence.
  • Use active voice and write in imperative mood;
  • Do not use prefixes or suffixes.
  • State messages in a positive tone
  • Do not use acronyms;
  • Do not construct messages from clauses.

A notice should contain all the necessary details such as: 

  1. Name of the issuing agency (school, etc) 

  2. Subject and date of issue/release of the notice 

  3. Event ( what?

  4. Date/time/duration ( when?

  5. Place/Venue ( where?

  6. Authorized signatory: 

    Name and signature 

* Important points to be kept in mind while writing a notice: 

  1. Do not cross the word-limit to avoid penalty of marks. Word limit – 50 words 

  2. Always enclose the notice in a box. 

  3. Avoid high sounding words. Be precise and write to the point.
