Passengers of hijacked plane released
All 196 passengers travelling aboard Indian Airlines plane 777-300 from Mumbai to New Delhi have been released today. The hijackers took back their demand and surrendered after a 10 day battle with the government. The passengers were taken to the hospital and apart from mental trauma they are in good condition. Mr Ramesh, a passenger told our correspondent that the hijackers were polite with them and provided food and other facilities. Mrs Sharma too was full of praise for the hijackers and claimed that they were not hard core criminals.
The hijackers had demanded the release of their leader, Sumesh, who had been arrested from the university for going on hunger strike. He demanded better hostel facilities for the students. Most of the passengers talked about the hijackers in a sympathetic way and wanted to help them.
