2) Nitration of aniline is done by using conc.HNO3 and conc.H2SO4.Since, HNO3 is a strong oxidising agent, it oxidises the NH2 group of aniline.So, NH2 group of aniline is protected by acetylation to give acetanilide after which nitration is done followed by hydrolysis to get the desired nitroaniline.
