1. Although carbon and hydrogen are better reducing agents but they are not used to reduce metallic oxides at high temperatures. Why?

Usually metallic oxides are reduced by C only at a high temperature. however maintaining this temperature is very difficult and costly, also not ecofriendly. Hence electrolysis is preferred method for reduction and extraction of such metals.
