50 ml of standard gold solution needs 0.05 mg of gelatin for its protection from coagulation . Calculate gold number of gelatin.

we have to find the gold number of gelatin....i.e.,amount of gelatin in milligrams needed to prevent coagulation of 10 ml of standard gold solution/sol........so now....as 50 ml of standard gold solution/sol needs = 0.05 mg of gelatin

1 ml of standard gold solution/sol needs = 0.05/50mg of gelatin

= 0.001mg of gelatin

10 ml of standard gold solution/sol needs = 0.001 * 10 mg of gelatin

=0.01 mg of gelatin

hence, gold number of gelatin = 0.01
