Calculate the temperature at which the root mean square speed of a gas

doubles its value at STP. (standard temperature is taken as 273K )

We know, Vrms=3RTM R is gas constant and M is molecular mass
According to question , Vrms at T=2×Vrms at 2733RTM=2×3R×273MT =4×273=1092 K
 Thus at 1092 K the rms speed of a gas doubles its value at STP.{stand. temp.273K}
