CH3-CH2-BR+SbF3 -------> gives which compound?
Dear student,
The reaction takes place as follows:
The bromoethane or (ethyl bromide) reacts with antimony trifluoride to give fluoroethane or (ethyl fluoride) and antimony tribromide.
As this is a Swart's reaction in which bromo or chloro alkanes on heating with metallic fluorides like SbF3, AgF or Hg2F2 gives fluoro alkanes.
