The Newton’s law of gravitation is the Universal law which applies everywhere in universe.

It states that every body in this universe attracts every other body with a force which is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.

  F = GMm/r2

Here M and m are the two masses and r is the distance between them . G is the constant known as universal gravitational constant.

If M = m = 1, r = 1, then F = G,

Therefore G is defined as:

Universal gravitational constant is equal  to the force of attraction between two bodies of unit mass a unit distance apart . It is a scalar quantity. Its numerical value = 6.67*10-11Nm2/kg2.
