Explain the reaction mechanism for the following reactions

1) CH3Cl + AgCN---------> CH3NC + AgCl

2) CH3CN + H3O+ ------------> CH3 COOH

1) AgCN is a covalent compound and it does not produce ionic CN-, whereas it donate its electron through N only. So it exist as

Ag - N-C+Thus it reacts with CH3Cl asCH3Cl + Ag - N-C+  CH3-N-C+ + AgCl
2) The conversion of cyanides to acid can be carried out either in the presence of acid or base.
In the place of R consider CH3.
