Explain why Cp > Cv ?

Hi Sudip!

In this derivation, you’ll need a basic knowledge of differentiation (calculus, grd-XII)
First law of thermodynamics states that, DQ = DU + PDV
Now, specific heat constant is actually rate of change of heat with respect to that of temperature.
At constant volume, ∆V = 0
Or, CP – CV = R

As R  is always positive, CP > CV
Hence proved.

Hope it is clear!
Best wishes!!
