how did governor respond to the two phone cals he received in the quick succession?

For each phonecall, the governor thought that it might be fake, a false trail set up to help Evans escpe. For the first phone call informing about the correction slip, the Governor called the Examination Board and found the phone line to be busy which confirmed that the phone call was nothoax (which it actually was!). For the second phone call too he suspected but he let it pass thinking that he was overreacting.
