How to differentiate between zero order and first order reactions
Dear Student
You can distinguish the order of any reaction on the basis of Molecularity ( in case of single step reaction) and Rate constant.
Order of a single step reaction is equal to its molecularity.
xA + yB → cC + dD
-
Rate = k [A]x [B]y
-
x + y = n = Order of the reaction.
Rate constant:
Units of rate constant is different for each order.
Reaction | Order | Units of rate constant |
Zero order reaction | 0 | |
First order reaction | 1 | |
Second order reaction | 2 |
