Is coordinate bond a sigma bond or pi bond. If it can be either in which condition it is sigma and in which is it pi?

Sigma and pi bond are the types of covalent bond and not the coordinate bond.
Covalent bond is formed by the overlapping of half filled orbitals of the two atoms whereas coordinate bond is formed by the overlapping of the completely filled orbital of the ligand and empty orbital of the metal.
